Hi everyone, apologies if this isn't the right thread to ask about this German collection. It's a Minkus Publications album for Germany from late 1800s through 1979. From my father's notes in the back, he filled it with slightly more than 2,000 stamps. About half canceled, half mint unhinged. Amazing collection but I feel overwhelmed going through this page by page. How do I get something like this valued?

Show us Page 1 of the album. If you are showing the first page with stamps then the collection is not too valuable. But it is highly collectible and will be great fun trying to complete as much as possible. |

The first pages are empty. I only showed the one particular close-up page because I noticed it was a large stamp and did a rudimentary Google search on it, and appeared to be somewhat valuable. How should I show you experts such a large album? Should I start with the first populated page? |

Welcome to the chat board ALottastamps
To help you out , can you take a picture of the first page of Germany ,not of the album but the page of the Empire of Germany ,it should have a date of 1872 near the top of the page . The pictures on that page will shown a big white circle in the center of each stamp . That will be a start and we can help further . |

I think the question was to provide images of the first few pages with spaces for stamps of the German Empire section, not the German States section. It will give an impression of the depth of the collection. It will tell if expensive stamps are there or just the cheaper ones. It, also, will tell about the state of the stamps. A lot can be inferred from that. This part: |

I have a Google drive folder with about half of this massive volume photographed. Would you be interested in taking a look? Please send me an email address I can add to the folder. |

Without prejudging the album pending further photos, bear in mind that there is a great deal of German material on the market and that a collection without rarer items will not be worth a great deal - sadly just a fact of philatelic life for most European countries. |

Germany printed stamps by the billions and a collection with 2000 stamps is not unusual. The best way to proceed is to check for 'key' issues that may have value, so if you post pictures of the first page or two of the "Empire" section of Germany, this will tell us how serious of a collector your dad was, and if you need to seek out additional information or opinions.
