ACANALIZO:

I think if you review the previous 128 pages of this thread, you'll see this sheet is more of a modern 'photgraph' print than an ENGRAVING.

You guys are correct -- and thanks to Litho's scan (below), I can see it much better.

Thanks
Kirk

Concerning the Swedish 100th anniversary of the chemistry Nobel Prize to Marie Curie,
joint issue with Poland it was printed one colour recess engraving and multiclour offset.

I do not have the SS but on this image from the Swedish Post Office site
http://cws.huginonline.com/P/134112...lder_v2.html
one can clearly see the black engraving.

Yes, the Marie Curie/ Alfred Nobel 2011 Sweden sleetlet is diffently an engraved stamp(s) -I personally know Piotr Naszarkowski of Sweden and saw many of his pre-works leading up to this engraved stamp as well Poland's sheetlet.I own one of the first engraver's signed black proof of the engraving before color was added.

ACANALIZO, that's wonderful you being personally acquainted
with such a well known engraver.

I would love to know the story behind how you got to know
Naszarkowski.

Also would it be possible for you to show the signed black proof of the engraving before color was added.

That's Ok Kirk, everybody makes mistakes, even Moderators it seems.

All jokes aside though Kirk, thank you for your continuous
interest and encouragement on this thread.

It is much appreciated.

Thanks for the sharp closeup ACANALIZO.

Here is a perfect example of how with a few lines and dots
scratched in various depths on a small piece of soft steel
an expert engraver can create a image.
Just amazing.

At least that's how it used to be.

Now ofcourse in many cases the engraver is aided
by means of a computer and laser technology.

I wonder ACANALIZO could you ask Piotr Naszarkowski
what techniques are used nowadays?

I created a Facebook page of his engravings at
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Piot...114857575794

I have a lot more to upload on to Facebook and better scanned images. I met him in Washington when he was down for the 2005 USPS Greta Garbo issue and RW72 & RW72b and again in 2006 RW73 & RW73b.
And have been in contact with him ever since. He is a very talented and kind person. He signed several of his works for me. After he engrave Marie Curie stamps I sent him a DVD about the life of Marie Curie Madame Curie (1944)with Greer Garson (Actor), Walter Pidgeon (Actor), Albert Lewin (Director), Jacques Tourneur (Director). Really great DVD that every young person should see. He had never new it existed and really appreciated it. It is sold on Amazon. He lives and works in SKÖNDAL, Stockholm. I have his complete works since he began engraving in 1985. Here is his 1st stamp.

He was a very close student and friend of Czeslan Slania and uses the same methods as Slania used. I know he helped Slania finish his last few works before he died. Slania had great confidence in him. As a matter of fact Slania was the one who was supposed to do the 2005 USPS Garbo but he fell ill and it was Naszarkowshi who completed it- as you know it was pick as the most beautiful stamp in the world in 2005. He would have perfect for the Jennys. I know he does a lot of work my hand under a microscope, don't know about computers but I will ask when I write him again. He is very young and those who know think he will break Slania's record of 1000+ engraved stamps during his life time -a rare master
