"Do you have one of Croatia's most valuable stamps?"
That's just click bait. No one who doesn't collect is going to start because of anything like this and anyone who already collects already knows if they have a rare Croatia stamp. It's like all the stupid online articles that have popped up since the penny is no longer being minted as if there is any chance you have a real copper 1943 penny lying around. |

One of the goals of these videos is likely to introduce the notion that stamps have value to a non-philatelic audience. It's easier for people to wrap their head around coins as being valuable, because there is some inherent value. Stamps, like Pokemon cards, have no inherent value. It's just a bunch of paper. For a knowledgeable collector, sure, the videos could come off as clickbait-y. But I don't think we're the intended audience here. |

Most of them are AI generated, posted specifically to get clicks so that the channel can make some money with effectively no effort. The intended audience are really dumb people, but that describes most of YouTube these days. |

There are AI generated stamp pages and they are garbage. Most of them cater to the amateur trying to get rich of stamps. Exploring Stamps, TedtalksStamps etc are real shows with substance. |

floortrader " 2,000 spend more than $1,000 a year . Out of this 2,000 maybe 500 who spend $10,000 a year " Are you counting dealers in this estimate? |

I considered Exploring Stamps as well produced light entertainment until this new series pushing values and Scott catalogs. Ted Talks Stamps often had more useful information

From the original post from floortrader "They tell me there are millions of collectors but when I put up a page of what I worked up ,today I am lucky to get two positive inputs , where are the millions of collectors --answer-- they don't care what others are doing ." I enjoy the history aspect of the hobby as I collect covers and am really interested in "the story behind the cover." I've accepted the fact that my collection is very personal and really, no one is more interested in my collection other than myself. Not my family, stamp friends, or anyone else. For the last 3 years, I've posted my collection on a museum and historic society website platform and I can tell you that I received a total of "1" actual response. That's OK. At least I can view my collection anywhere in the world via the internet without opening up binders. BTW, my website is: https://hub.catalogit.app/hawaii's-...l-collection br / |

GREEN DRAGON ---- On the subject of who is spending money and how many there are is really just from my experience of attending stamp auctions and talking to other buyers . The bidding on line and who is buying what is now hidden to most of us . The auction firms know but are type lip about it . They all value the secret of who their customers are . My guess is that 75% of their buyers are people we never see at shows at bourses or on the auction floor .

There's so much stuff out there sometimes it is hard to find things. You've done a good job with this, and it is an interesting way to make it available to others. |

On the subject of people viewing collections . My daughter in the 1990's worked at the Western Springs IL. Library . Her boss was in charge of the front desk display case . Her boss gave her the job of filling the display case every two weeks .
She came to me ,ask if I could help her find something to fill the case . We started with cat stamps ,then dogs ,horses and space , it got very popular for visitors and did that for a year and a half . She was a hero on the staff because the public enjoyed seeing what she wrote up about the each subject .
My point is people will look at stamps and show a interest if the setting is done right . |

Quote: You're talking about the Exploring Stamps channel? No, I'm talking about the "The most expensive stamps in the world! Check to see if you have Scott #300 because it's worth millions!" slop in general. That's what's happening on Exploring Stamps because obviously, someone stole his channel and he's not paying attention or can't do anything about it. |
