I never haggle with only one dealer, Eric Jackson, as he is well known not to discount anything from the price marked for anyone. He is not at Boston. His area is revenue material.
As with any other dealer, it depends on how well they know you, how much you've historically spent with them, and whether they like you. There's a human element to all of this.
There have been times that Eric has been willing to discount, but then again I started out as a naive bottom feeder (no offense to anyone intended), so I would always ask for discounts from him and Richard, etc. before I realized that they typically don't discount... so now they expect it from me.

Not all dealers operate the same way when it comes to pricing, offers, and negotiation.
The same goes for offering time payment terms, holding items for you, or setting items aside for you in advance. If you build a rapport, it can pay dividends over time.
