This envelope was forwarded from North Brighton to North Waterford and signed by the postmaster at the time but I am not sure the stamped cachet on the stamp is PAID. During the late 1800s there would not have been additional postage needed for forwarding. Your thoughts?
"PAID" in various designs was a postmark used to cancel stamps of the period. It is often referenced in the list of cancels and additional value at the end of the listing for a Scott # listing in the Scott US Specialized.
