That's curious, mine are Scott OX39 and "hyphen-hole" perforated, yours are normal pin perforated Barb, used to seal covers that have been opened by the Postal Authorities for one reason or another, damaged by postal machinery, dead letter office, etc, not sure about usage on censored mail. |

Just had an interesting read of page 721 of a 2006 Scott specialized. There are so many perf varieties on these it is worth checking. They can even make a nice little sideline collection. It appears bfranton's little lot do not have the same catalogue number. I think some checking is in order. Now I have to find my own. It won't be easy. Londonbus1....My stamp mess is appalling |

I found one piece. OX40 Rod's is on Cream Paper while mine are on white paper. Same Hyphen Hole Perf 9˝ x Imperf. Issued in Strips of 5 with top tab inscription. OX40 was the last of these to be issued [1969]. Some of the earlier ones with similar [but not the same] design are very beautiful. OX39 and 40 differ not only in the paper but also in design size [1mm difference] Londonbus1...off to look for more ! |

Notice that they were supplied to offices in batches stapled together on the tab. Both Rod's and mine have two staple holes. |

SV, my Scott (2006 specialized) is Confederate Postmasters Provisionals. :(
But looking further I found OX21-40 POS6 on page 721, so shall have to get the gauge out... Not my favorite thing yet... esp when the catalog starts talking about paper types too. |

I will admit my surprise that most of these as singles are quite affordable in mint or used. I have long ogled over the Canal Zone versions of these, but doubt I will ever be able to afford them. |

I think we can Hijack Barb's thread as an "officially sealed" topical Canada : Officially sealed (and not with a smile) image ownership unknown. Officially sealed MOLDOVA current Officially sealed: Australia 1937 |

Quote: Canada : Officially sealed (and not with a smile) Note the crease in the middle of the stamp - Canadian officially sealed stamps were folded over the top of the envelope so used stamps are always creased, as opposed to the Australian usage shown. Now, how the Moldovan seal was creased twice is a mystery to me ... Canada never released an Officially Sealed stamp with a portrait of KEVII, but Newfoundland did. Ryan |
