Here is an image of a pair of stamps on piece depicting the Olympics flag, various sports, and a globe map, printed by offset, and issued by Benin on July 16, 1980 as one stamp in a set of five publicizing the 22nd Summer Games, held in Moscow, Scott No. 472.

Rediscovered a few Greeks I didn't know I had, and found these maps. The 1930 is a bit stained, but it's an old country.




The one on the right is post war commemorating concentration camps. Sobering.

Here's a more cheerful map stamp from Greece: Church on a hilltop, sandy beach, and map of Chios, printed by lithogravure, and issued by Greece on July 26, 1976, Scott No. 1189.

cynical - I believe the Panama airmail stamp posted above is Scott No. C112, issued on August 4, 1949. It was engraved and printed by the American Bank Note Company. - nethryk

Nethryk: thanks for the info on the Panama stamp. It has sort of an Indiana Jones look to it. The colour matches a 1970 Dodge Challenger I once owned. I would be remiss if I didn't thank you for the time and effort you put into your posts. It makes the database and search function so much more valuable.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting Helsinki's city seal and Forsell's Map of Old Helsinki (1660), designed by Signe "Ham" Hammarsten-Jansson, engraved by Birger Ekholm, and issued by Finland on June 11, 1950 to mark the 400th anniversary of the city's founding, Scott No. 297, Facit No. 392.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting King Frederik IX of Denmark and a map of Greenland, designed by Danish painter and illustrator Torben Galle Jensen (1901-70), engraved by Czeslaw Slania, and issued by Greenland on March 11, 1969 in celebration of Frederik's 70th birthday, Scott No. 70, Facit No. 72.
