In Lisbon, Portugal, the 2010 World Philatelic Exhibition will be held, sponsored by the FIP, the Portuguese Post Office (CTT) and the Portuguese Philatelic Federation.

The main theme of the Exhibition is the 100th anniversary of Republicanism in Portugal. In 1910 the Monarchy was ended and, since then Portugal has been governed by Republican leaders (Presidents, Prime Ministers).

A number of Postal Administrations will be present, for example, Germany, UK, France, Monaco, Macau, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Korea, Croatia, Belgium, Italy, Spain.

Also, there will be a lot of Exhibits from all across the world to look at.

The Exhibition has started, so I've disappeared a bit! The fact that I've got a small flu doesn't help!
I haven't been able to survive at the Exposition. I get tired quickly and I end up going home early.

I'm pretty sure there aren't many on the forum able to go, but there's some interesting Exhibits I hope to see in the coming days after I'm finished fishing through the postal administrations (nothing from North America, only Brazil, Venezuela and Argentina from that side of the pond).

They created a passport where you can put stamps from all countries. I'm filling in one for myself and 3 for friends. Safe to say, my bank account is in the red!
It's amazing how some countries use customs as an excuse to raise prices beyond reason. I'll buy for the passport but nothing else... their loss. Though, you can always trust the Asians to be modest with prices (Korea, Japan and Macau are very reasonably priced).

I discovered there the countries Terres Australes et Antartiques Française, who make mainly engraved stamps and beautiful ones: http://www.taaf.fr/rubriques/philat..._timbres.htm
You can buy them via France La Poste.
