Having gone to a dozen post offices over the past 3 months to look at their Marine booklets I gathered a fair amount of postal clerk comment about this booklet, and customer preferences. The customers didn't like the fact that (a) it was a "water activated" stamp and (b) it was a fixed rate. Many of the post offices had large stocks of the booklet and they were not selling.

My sad, sad prediction. Customers will insist on peel and stick P stamps in the years to come - much to the chagrin of more traditional collectors like minseself. I think this is very sad. But then better that than a world filled with postage meter labels <sigh>.
