Nice items Rod!

The block of labels commemorate the 250th anniversary of the completion of the Hercules Monument at the Wilhelmshöhe Mountain Park in Kassel, Germany:

The text along the sides means something like Wilhelmshöhe Reconstruction Society and the price is a donation of 5 pfg.

Wow! that's amazing Nigel. Cheers
The patina on Hercules looks fantastic, same colour as the labels :)
I never realised Hercules was a demigod,
I had to rush over to wiki, to find his parentage.

Lovely Cinderella, spoilt by a poor scan,
as such we cannot appreciate the design, the allegory
the printing process, the paper.

Another lovely engraving by Pilch.

The officially recognized discovery took place in 1873 by the Austro-Hungarian North Pole Expedition led by polar explorers Julius von Payer and Karl Weyprecht. They named the archipelago in honour of the Austro-Hungarian emperor Franz Joseph I.
