Just came across this cover, which I found rather interesting.

Can anyone explain the Pneumatic Mail process apparently in use at the time in Paris, France (1916)?

This link gives a good overview...the Scott prefix for pneumatic stamps is "D"

[edit: I should mention that France doesn't have separate pneumatic stamps...Italy has some beauties, though.]

This was the first cover I have come across with that marking. A new study that I never realized before. Very interesting information.

Nice cover wt1, and great info from Collin.
Pity about the tear.
Quite sought after I should think.

Came across another cover since my last post, also from Paris, but a year later (1917), this time handwritten with "pneumatique" below the stamp:

Hi wt 1

Nice cover and it certainly appears is a "Pneumatic Post" example. Here is another url you might be interested in on this topic?
