It's hard to find recent high-values in used condition. Here are a few from my clippings box.

First, some Air Force One - two canceled and one missed by the marker monkey.

And two Rushmore from a USPS Box -- also miraculously unmarked.

I think you're right, John. And the two I have are on a thick cardboard box. Also they're so close together, that one can't be clipped without damaging the other. So, I just cut a square from the box and put it aside for now.

KirkS,
Another wonderful grouping of stamps. The astronauts on the moon $2.40 stamp is one of my favorites. I remember purchasing it at the postoffice when it was released as a new collector. I had not spent so much on a new single stamp before, boy have times and inflation changed.

I'm glad I read this thread before I tried to soak the mount Rushmore I have.

Dianne:

I remembered seeing a list of "un-soakable" stamps printed in Linn's. I did a little digging and found it in the Jan 19 2009 issue. I found the back issues on Linn's website and saved the list to a PDF file which I've uploaded to my website. Here's the link, but it's a big file -- about 440KB, so it might be slow for dial-up. I suggest you right-click and save it to your harddrive for future reference.

If you have any problems, let me know.

Very nice stamps there. It's nice to see the $2.40 Astronaut stamp finally. I have a poster from when they released that stamp. Maybe one of these days I will get lucky and find one. Thanks for sharing them with us.

G'Day KirkS,Thought I would show you a high value out of my clippings,I quite like the cancellation's on this as it's not to heavy handed and the best thing is there's no marking monkey marks (m.m.m.)

So what do you think

Regards to all

Harry

Gosh Harry...

Those are nice looking stamps, but what in the world takes $50 to mail -- a jeep?
