It has been mentioned in the "Design SCF Stamp" thread that perhaps there should be a contest to design an SCF Logo.

I think this a good idea, however, nobody "official" has jumped on it as yet, so consider this an "unofficial" thread, for now. If someone official wants to legitimize this thread, they can.

Note that I'm not complaining or anything, just trying to be helpful. I know that the powers that be can sometimes get busy, just like the rest of us.

Anyway, this morning, I had a few minutes of downtime, and started doodling in Paint, where I came up with the following:

I liked the outline of a stamp, because that made sense to me, since that's what we all collect, but it seemed to me that this was just too simple and needed something more. I therefore added the initials of the group's name.

Kind of reminds me of a perfin or an overprint.

Very interesting, both of them. But I need to leave this thread because I'm feeling a little sea sick!

I have ideas but am totally lost with computer "paint" type programs.

Can anyone talented with "paint" come up with a sample that incorporates the words "Stamp Community Family". And include a map of both sides of the globe to represent that members are from around the world. All this within a stamp outline as WpgLwr has shown.

If there is no big hurry, at a later date I might be able to put a design on paper and scan it.

Something like this, perhaps? What else would you like on it?

Or are you thinking of more like the map on this stamp?
Mercator projection I believe.
Without the red areas of course.
And the crown.
And the Xmas.
Nice saying on the bottom though.

WpgLwr and puzzler, you both are grasping my idea.

Could we possibly leave out the nice saying on your's puzzler? I need to be careful what I say here or you Canadians might gang up on me.

Actually, what I picture in my mind is similar to the stamp below. But instead of the red cross, the right side of the stamp would have the reverse side of the earth. The border on this particular stamp is an option for the design of the wording but what I like most is fancy touches such as the leaves in each corner.

Oops, I did not intend to infer to say that we use the same wording, just that the placement of the words for SCF could be similar. The halves of the earth could also be moved up or doen and have all wording placed above or below the earth halves.

Here are two globe faces then. Sorry about the British Empire again.
This is the Imperial Economic Conference in Ottawa, Scott #194 from 1932, showing Britannia.

Older stamps have nice scroll work.
Hmmm, perhaps the number 13 should be removed!
How would APS ### fit in there?
Well, two globes anyway. A start.

Is there a mythological figure that would go well with collecting stamps?
Prometheus from Greek myth who brought fire to man? Gandalf the wizard from Lord of the Rings!

How about the shield-like framing of the trans-Mississippi issue?
Stamp Community Family where United States of America is.

A rayed sun like the Red cross stamp behind all,
Modified world globes where the cattle are,
A stamp with a globe on it (with SCF on it?) in the center,
(Map on stamp on map on stamp.)
Oops, maybe simpler is better?

APS number where 'Western Cattle in Storm' is
'Education is the key to collector success!' on bottom,

Maybe the font needs to be changed to
ARIAL for better READABILITY?
(Like the font you are reading now.)

Well from what I have been told, the Arch Angle Gabriel is the patron saint of stamp collectors so maybe we could place him between the two globes, then have the SCF language around the outer edges.

Deviln,
Good one.

I was trying for a worldwide approach perhaps.
Although there are other mythologies around the world too.
Chinese, Indian, Greek, Roman, etc.
Different religions also.
Maybe we should not do mythology or religion?
