Scott's Catalog do not list these stamps, an issue I have a great deal of anguish and anger about, so I was wondering which stamp catalog actually lists them and is easily available. Has anyone come up with a Trucial Stamp Catalog?

The Minkus Trucial States Stamp Catalog.

I believe Michel has one too.

Michel Golfstaaten-Katalog 2006 lists only the Trucials and is English-language. The ISBN is 3878585616.

Thanks for the info! The Minkus is a little pricey but I'll see if the library has it.

I do not know if they published a new edition of the Minkus catalog or not. But Minkus catalogs now go by the name Krause-Minkus and they were publishing catalogs of sorts up to the mid-2000's at least.
Good luck,
Will

The Minkus catalogs are all out of print. For more up to date info/prices, you will need to consult Stanley Gibbons or Michel. The Scott catalogs are a real waste of time for this area.

Why is that? They are stamps and while some might not be legal I would hedge a bet to say most are.

So the Trucial States contain:

Ras-Al-Khemia
Umm-AL-Quiann
Fujeria
Ajman
Sharjah

am I missing any?

Of the seven that became the UAE, you're missing Abu Dhabi and Dubai. There are others, that ceased to exist earlier. Without a catalogue handy I can't say if any of the others issued stamps.

There are also stamps labeled Manama, which is a city in the UAE (Ajman).

Probably others, too.

Here's the full list from wikipedia:

Abu Dhabi (1820 1971)
Ajman (1820 1971)
Dubai (1820 1971)
Sharjah (1820 1971)
Umm al-Quwain (1820 1971)
Ras al-Khaimah (1822 1972)
Dibba (1871 1951)
Hamriyah (1875 1922)
Fujairah (1902 1971)
Kalba (1903 1952)
Heera (1915 1942)

I don't know if some of the odd ones had stamps or used stamps of other places. The Trucial states were still pumping out stamps in the early 1970's after the U.A.E. was formed. Scott questions the postal validity of the stamps thus they are not included. It includes the questionable issues of Mongolia and Grenada so I really don't know why. Scott's has always been a little inconsistent to me.
Will

edit: While not a Trucial State, but it's in the area - you can add State of Oman to the list of questionables. Yemen had some weird things going on too that are not listed in Scott's.

I have a modest amount of Trucial States in my collection. I find that they are dirt cheap in the US because of the strong bias against those stamps, often derisively referred to as wallpaper. This is primarily a problem in the US, which is why you see the Trucials listed in SG and Michel, but only limited in Scott -- and of course, the only US catalog printer to list Trucials (Minkus) is no longer in print.

This stamp bias was really built up by the early 1970s. So if you are familiar with the Scott catalogs of the 1970s and 1980s, you will see that Scott stopped giving catalog numbers to stamps of the Trucial States in the late 1960s. Scott used to briefly list (without catalog numbers and with limited details) some (not all) of the stamps after that in a section in the back of the catalog called "For the Record". I think sometime at the end of the 1980s or early 1990s, Scott completely removed the "For the Record" section. Some of the "For the Record" listings were moved to their respective countries. However, the Trucial States were completely removed. Evidence of that strong bias. If you run into some of the older dealers/collectors of the 1970s and 1980s, you will still hear a HMMMPPPH if you mention Trucial States.

If you like topicals, you will like the Trucial States. But it is true, that some of the Trucial States stamps really look like wallpaper with stamp designs. I don't mind, I like lots of stamps. The more, the merrier!

Thanks Rod!

But only one of the pics is currently showing. Don't make me go online to watch all those movies in order to see those stars!

Ras Al Khaima :

Durer : A self portrait. (who appears on the easel of Norman Rockwell.)

(Followed by the genius of Norman Rockwell, also a self portrait
and on his easel, self portraits of Durer, Van Gogh and Rembrandt
a lovely touch by Rockwell, full of humour and vitality)
