As Alfred Hitchcock said, "Good EEEvenning." I am at the point now where I have enough stamps that I am ready to start sorting, but I will need some supplies so, all you stamp'n guys and gals, for those of you that use the net to order, who do you use?
I'm going to need glassine envelopes, mounts (average and just slightly larger as of now),and stock books.Anyone have their special little nooks on the net?

One man's opinion. My internet supply is primarily "Subway Stamps". I used to find some real competitive pricing at "Hobbysoft" but, I believe they have folded their tent. |

When I was first looking for glassines and such I just scanned ebay for awhile and found some supplies for reasonable prices. Now I have a couple of places withing driving distance that I can get most of what I need. Dianne |

Donna,
Perhaps just as important as the glassines are the boxes you'll keep them in. Just make sure that the glassines fit nicely. I'll order a small quantity, if unsure, prior to a big order.

I get my stamp mounts on e-bay from a particular seller that offers them at a buy it now or best offer price. I sumbit a best offer that is lower than his buy it now price and usually get them. He combines shipping too. This is the least cost method I've found for stamp mounts.

I thought of the other supplier where I have been able to get some reasonable prices and that is: "iHobby" |

I can help you with stockbooks. Arpin Philately has a good offer with more than $50 gets you free shipping if you need a large amounts of them. For bigger ones than the usual 16 pagers, this saves you alot of money. Otherwise, I usually get it at stores for $10 for 16 pages and around $30-$35 for the 32/64 pages ones. If they are in your area of course. Al's Stamps is good as well, but you have to email him first as his website doesn't get updated often and thus you don't know what he has or doesn't. ebay I tend not to look at as its usually the UK which sells Stockbooks and they kill you on shipping. |

re:subway... I have ordered twice from them... so far everything has been on B/O.. Even their "close out" stuff is on back-order... very disappointing.. I canceled my first order.. about to cancel the second (and last) |

They haven't been the same since the boss passed away. I agree, problems with locating/maintaining inventory. It seems to make quite a difference who you talk to on the phone.
They are still my main source for some harder to get items, and some of their close-out's are pretty unbelievable. When I purchase from them, it's usually large bulk quantities or close-outs. Otherwise, they are usually not the cheapest. But when things are on close-out/clearance or seconds, the price is excellent! Otherwise, do some shopping around on the internet. |

I did call them and asked them if they had something equivalent to what I wanted. They did, they replaced my linder stock book order with lighthouse.. cheaper price.. but is it an inferior product? |

Lighthouse stockbooks are what I use currently, alongside the Uni-Trade ones. They are good quality, though I tend to reinforce the corners as they tend to get bent for some reason, maybe my rough handling of them. They are good for using and I can vouch some what for them. But then again I've only tried only two, maybe three types of stockbooks one I'm sure that I'm forgetting. |

I prefer Lighthouse over Lindner, but they are both better than average products. I almost always end up buying the G&K, because they are so much cheaper, especially when they go on clearance. |

G&K is the line produced and sold by Subway. Sort of like their generic brand. |
