The 1876 U.S. stamped envelopes are really nice. When I was younger, a friend's father showed my his full set of all four entires including a certified U220.

The embossing is fine with this Indian embossed envelope, but something happened with the printing...

Very nice indeed Plateflaw.
bring on the convention states :)
Any suggestions on how the error occurred?
A piece of accidental waste attached, do you think?

first pre-paid embossed envelope.

The blue envelope with the partial carmine indicium is typically called a "partial albino". These occurred when two envelope blanks were brought into the embossing/printing area together, with one blank not entirely covering the embossing die's target area. The other envelope blank has the bottom half of the indicium (inked) at one of its edges.

Plateflaw, Nice to find another collector of embossed covers and corners.

Here's one with no ink at all.
