Now that is an amazing cover! I have a great liking to Norway's older wooden buildings as well!

Londonbus1 - did you see this beauty while you were at the London 2010 Festival of Stamps. It made a surprise showing and got all the hard core Pitcairn collectors in a big heat.

Excellent John, there are some of those churches
on Russian stamps IIRC.

The forest collective must have sighed a huge groan
when man stood upright, and eyed them off approvingly.

2000 oak trees to build a standard warship in Nelson's time.

That is a lot of trees Rod! I believe the Vikings were the first to use naturally, bent shaped ribs in there boat building. They were known as the strongest boats of there time. To do this it would of taken many trees just for the ribs themselves.

Another wooden building from Norway! The turf roof is amazing!

Here are some ships from my windmill collection. The ship 'Fram' had a mill on it to generate electricity. If interested, here is some info: http://www.coolantarctica.com/Antar...ips/fram.htm

Here's the ship l'Entrecasteaux -- it has a windmill on it's stern- this one I believe was to grind flour/corn during the voyage. I love these stamps as I love ships! After all, I grew up in a country where there is a lot of water, thus ships - the history of Holland is full of ships and pirates/admirals/ battles etc.

Jopie I bicycled the Netherlands in 1984. I hope to go again there during the springtime to see the tulips and of course the beautiful women. Now I have a tall ship cover from Argentina. Nice drawing!
