Thanks for sharing, Brian, it appears that you've got yourself a very nice stamp.

I've always been attracted to the designs of the 1869 issue and was able to acquire a very nice Scott #114 the other day.

If you don't mind my asking, what is the gum condition?

Steve

That is a very nice stamp. Many I have seen are so far off center that the perfs touch the design. Is the color of the stamp as dark as the scan seems to show?

how do you know it's not a 123? telling those two apart can be difficult.

either way it is a beautiful specimen.
I am sure that must have gone well above CV

The gum is described as "disturbed". I'll post a scan of the back tonight.

The scan might be a bit darker than reality, will take a closer look tonight.

It is marked as a #133 on the back, but I'm not experienced enough to tell
if the paper is "hard" or "soft porous". I also need to really check the gum closely
and see if I can tell if it was re-gummed.

I paid $110 and thought I made out ok even with the gum issue..

Thanks for the replies guys!

Here's a shot of the back:

Never thought I'd own a stamp that should have a cert

That's what I figured...
Any particular reason to choose one cert organization over any other?

not really anyone that will verify it. a cert makes a huge difference when you are going to sell it. for what you paid and what it is worth. I would do it.
Try PSE or APS. if you are not a member of APS then these people.. http://www.psestamp.com/
