I found this forum when searching for "United States Scott 2216-2219" on the internet. I bought these back in 1986 when my friend told me stamps were a "good investment".
The last time I spoke with someone about selling these, he said "start licking". Hmmmm ...
I have two shrink-wrapped (from the post office) sets of twenty five of these sets, plus five additional sets. Can anyone tell me what they are worth, or shall I start licking?
If you sold to collectors you might get a premium over face value. They were not a very good investment. Your average dealer is not going to offer more than 70% of face (and likely less).
One seller on StampWants/bidstart is selling for face, and another has twenty or so available at $9.99. By the time you get through the hassle of monetizing them, it might have been less stress to just use them on mail...
As soon as I say this, someone who collects shrinkwrapped sheets is going to pipe up and point out how valuable they are to collectors of shrinkwrapped sheets...
