My wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday, which was yesterday, and I asked her for a Mystery Box from Champion Stamp Co. in NYC. It arrive on my birthday so after work, dinner, cake and a round of happy birthday from the kids and wife I sat down and went through the mystery box. A set of 8 bird stamps stood out, are from a placed called Occussi-Ambeno. OK I set them aside to google the next day since I never heard of a country called Occussi-Ambeno. So after doing some reading they turn out to be Cinderellas from a fictitious country. So here's a link I found and read with interest: http://chiefacoins.com/Database/Mic...i-Ambeno.htmSo are they worth anything? And do others collect them?

Not really and yes. Bogus stamps can have quite a following. There are many around and some nice designs. But the guy that made these appears to be a bit of a weird one ! Oh yes, happy Birthday for yesterday. Londonbus1...also a bit weird. |

Happy birthday. We are both Libra. About Occussi-Ambeno, I don't collect what is not in Scott catalogue. I would have been mad if I found these in the mystery box for myself. These stamps has not much value, they could never be use to send a letter. They can have nice pictures on them but that's it, no dealer will buy them from you. Anyway it's not the whole box with bogus stamps so enjoy it. Daniel |

Dan,
I just add them into my other Cinderella's that just happen to come my way. Hey its a collection all by itself. And they were the only Cinderella's (5) in the mystery box, hence a mystery box! |

About bogus stamps I was thinking about dealer who have a store. In Montreal there is only three dealers with store and they won't buy bogus stamps, they go by Scott. A piece of paper that cannot be use to send a letter cannot be call a stamp. It's just anything to try to make a buck with collectors. There may be a market for bogus but i'm not that type of collector. |

To each their own...that's the great thing about this pursuit.
If you run across some cinderellas, don't get mad, just auction them here. Might be quite a few bidders... |

Rod,
Do you have a stamp for every theme? The bird you posted is one of the ones I just added to my collection. |

Happy belated birthday. Raywrio. I know lots of people that collect cinderellas and bogus stamps. I recently printed off a listing of bogus stamps and I think I'll add them to my collection. Some of them come with an interesting story. Dianne |

Their is also another bit of info that we all left out(incl. myself). These would fall under the heading of "Micro Nations". Most (Not All) "Micro Nations" are formed as a protest against a Gov't. Their Stamps, Currency and Coins are highly sought after by collectors of these Micro Nations. A few of the better known Micro Nations are Lundy, Hutt River Prov., Conch Republic and Sealand. |
