I have a foil embossed Kennedy stamp from a country called Fujeira Wenger. Is this a Saudi country? I'm having trouble finding out anything about the country. A friend gave it to me because she said it was too big for her to keep. I'll take "too big" stamps from her anytime...lol

Fujeira
a state on the coast of the Gulf of Oman
about 5 o'clock on this map.
The stamps did not carry out postal service
so classified as Cinderellas and collectively
known as "dune stamps"

Donna, the map showing two areas both labeled Fujeria means that both those areas are under Fujerian control.

Dune stamps are usually ones from countries that are mostly comprised of sand dunes, desert countries, with not much else except maybe oil, so no huge amounts of people with enough money to actually buy stamps and use them to mail anything anywhere. So therefore, such stamps have most likely not seen any postal use and are just printed so collectors will collect them to provide extra money for the countries.

Lots of other countries do this selling of stamps that really never see postal duty, more and more now-a-days. But, lots of these stamps are beautiful and if you don't mind that they have never done their job as a stamp, then quite collectible.

Some companies make lots of money selling these.

Now where does the "Wenger" come in? Is it a dependency of Fujeira? I don't see it on Rod's map...

Googling wenger shoes it to be a last name (surname) from Switzerland and USA etc etc so that could just be a way for the seller to keep track of who owns what in his inventory. Like putting numbers or letters after the title etc.

I recently posed a similar question in the WW Forum. Here's the link, which has some additional info.:

For the record, I think it wise to suggest to
readers that not all "sand dune" stamps are worthless,
experienced collectors can spot them, but for possible newbies,
early trucial States or "Dune stamps" can fetch over $100
"early" (pre 1966) and "on cover" are the things to watch.

I post a snippet from the Australian Stamp News
author Rod Peryy's woodchip free zone
discussing "contrarism" ie going against current collecting trends

There is a book written by Kenneth R. Wenger entitled "John F. Kennedy Memorial Stamp Issues of the World: A Visual Reference Catalog with Current Market Prices". I suppose the Wenger reference would be a catalogue number in the above book.
