I was wondering if anyone had done research on Archival safe shrink wrap?

When Circuit City went out of business here in the USA, I bought one of their shrink wrap machines. I was just playing around with my Hawaiian 2010 sheet and placed it on cut cardboard backing and shrank wrapped it for fun, I got to say it looks real nice and now hingable without damaging.

HOWEVER, I'm pretty sure I have the PVC style shrink wrap which I think is not archival safe and I'm on the fence if Polyolefin shrink wrap is actually Archival safe like they say.

I'm curious as I dont really want to buy hundreds of page size mounts if anyone has tried this, it may be a cheaper method for me if it actually works...

UPDATE: Hinges don't seem to take hold on the Shrink wrap, so I'm giving up on this idea

I'm no expert on the subject, but here is a postal card I purchased directly from the U.S. Postal Service in 1997 that was shrink wrapped (with a cardboard backing):

BUT ... the U.S. Postal Service also offers this warning on the back:

I suppose I should have removed the card from the shrink wrap 13 years ago when I first bought it, but I didn't. Frankly, it doesn't look any worse for the wear (in fact, probably better than the handling it would have received if I removed it from the shrink wrap all those years ago.)

Maybe for permanent storage it's no good and in another 25 years or so I'll be sorry for not having removed it from the shrink wrap, but in the short-term it still looks good to me.

Incidentally, if you're trying to use a shrink wrap package for mounting in an album, have you tried the Scotch 811 Removable Tape? It is not recommended for permanent storage of stamps either, but it may provide the adhesion to the plastic shrink wrap that a stamp hinge won't provide, yet with the backing in place, it shouldn't adversely affect the stamp.

some time this winter I may look back into this subject, for now I'm on to somthing I can sink my teeth in...

I'm currently researching book binding as I'm a jack of all trades master of none, I did a test binding and cover it turned out pretty good.. I'm now looking at goat and cow hide leather to possible recover my ailing Scotts vs just buying new ons at like $40 a pop, I think I can rebind them for 1/2 of that each...
