I haven't mentioned the fact that the SCH is a bonified, well respected Chapter of the American Philatelic Society. I am the acting President-liasion and I make sure our $48 dues are paid each year. I have personally paid the dues as part of my annual contribution to the SCF, so we haven't had to collect donations from members.

In a couple of months, we will have to decide if we want to continue as a Chapter (and I hope we do), and if we want to keep me in this position (and I hope we don't). I am perfectly willing to let someone else have a bite of this biscuit, but I'd be happy carrying on as I have as well. It's up to the family members to decide. I will pay the dues again this year regardless.

In the meantime - those of you who are new to this part of the family need to check out the APS website to see what kind of goodies are available to you as a chapter member. Thing like their series of mini-albums that you can download and print out for free.

You also need to have a discussion to ensure we are still headed in the right direction with our membership. Thanks!

LaSwabbie, how do we as members of SCF take advantage of our collective membership in APS? I wanted to buy from the APS stampstore, and ended up joining the APS so as to be able to buy. If I had known how to use "our" membership, I could have gone ahead and bought from the store.

I also have become a member and would encourage us to remain a chapter and also encourage laswabbie to remain as president.
(If it ain't broke, don't fix it.)

I was wondering the same thing.

Give me a few days and I'll put together a little primer on using the APS website. I'm in the middle of a 10 day safety audit at work and have to concentrate on that for awhile. Safety - what a waste of time.

Swabbie,

Could you get reimbursed for the APS Chapter Dues from the donations collected for SCF to keep the site running? You may have to check with the Forum Mods. I vote to continue as a APS Chapter, it gives us some legitimacy plus we can be listed on the APS's website. This gives us more visability in the philatelic world. You are doing a great job as our chapter liason.

You know it is hard to get out of those jobs with no pay and all the responsibility...
