By the tone of this article it sounds as if the Postal Inspectors are just keeping a blind eye on the problem and just letting them go through.

Now us stamp collectors are going to have yet other varieties of stamps to go through in identifying modern-day fakes from real 44 cent self-adhesives.

Forgeries - I always love how they sell for more to collectors down the years.

Here is an article about the three modern GB machin forgeries.

http://www.gbstamps.com/news2006_3.html (at the bottom of the page).

I have a few copies of the 24p chestnut both mint and used but none of the 2nd or 1st class.

Maybe if all stamp collectors stopped buying counterfeits it would help ... but as we all know, collectors are always looking for new material and varieties, whether forgeries or not, which helps keep prices high.

Then there are always those who unknowingly get a counterfeit and sell it as an original, and the problem grows even further.

Frankly, until reading these articles, I never thought much about modern-day counterfeits in current denomination stamps, but with the low cost of reprograhic equipment readily available on the market today, I suppose its a problem that isn't going to go away ... after all, forgeries have been around long before any of us were even born.

I collect genuine stamps mostly MNH. I was a bit surprise by the success of the cinderella set I put in auction on SCF. So I suppose counterfeit stamp could be popular too. The aggravation is that USPS is loosing money...

Sorry SV, I must have missed it

Point me in the right direction please.

I have been 'missing' a few threads lately. This is, in a way, a compliment to how the site is going. Some days I just cannot keep up and some get 'missed'.

Like I said in another thread [forgot which one ], I need to take more time off from work.
