Related to Rodney's image, more Land Speed Record cars. This is a 1998 British set.

My Dad is involved in an LSR attempt as the driver, trying to run over 500 mph with a piston-engined, wheel-driven car. They've been building it for over 10 years - better hurry up before everybody gets too old to run the thing!

You never know, they might end up in Australia to run that thing. The Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah is the normal location for this sort of stuff, but the course there is only long enough for runs up to perhaps 450 mph. After that, they'll need to find some place longer. There's a dry lake in Nevada and another in Australia that are good locations. The location in Australia is a bit problematic logistically, however - a couple of hundred miles from the nearest source of drinking water, for example ....
