I work in a rather large State office. I know the guys in the mail room and they let me go though the envelopes that they are throwing away. I get most of my current US stamps from here. We get a ton of mail that has not been cancelled and I just save them in a big box. I need to make room and I am trying to debate what to do with all of this postage that was not cancelled. I know a lot of people use this but I do not. It is mainly regular issue stamps of all denominations. Should I just keep saving all of them up and put them in a huge box with other cancelled on paper stamps and sell it for kilo or should I soak them all off and sell them cheap to someone?
I know you are not suppose to use the stamps over again but I see a lot of people doing it. I even get a lot of mail here at work that people reuse stamps.

As a fellow United States citizen, I would encourage you not to break the laws of our country. Plus it's not worth the effort much of the time. Kilo lots are the way to go. My stamp dealer pays about $25/lb for 29 cent and higher denomination stamps. I am sure there is a dealer near you who could help you liquidate them. If all else fails, you could send them to me. |

Call me a fuddy duddy, but I would not recommend reuse, either.
Although the chances of being fitted for an orange jumpsuit are probably slim to none, it is still a federal crime. I definitely wouldn't soak them off and market them for such use. That could actually attract a bit of unwanted attention. |

I don't use them myself but know others that do. I would not market them as for that use. To me they are just sitting in a box waiting for me to pull out what I need for my album then the rest get boxed up forever or until I get rid of them. I checked the mail today and there were about 50 $1 stamps that were not cancelled along with other denominations that were lower. I just cant let them go to the dump. I keep even the used common stamps. Never know when a new variety is discovered and I will have a ton to pilfer through to see if I have it he he. I cut the corners to single paper and throw them in a box. Eventually I will get tired of dealing with it and just sell it off as a mix. I at least stay pretty up to date on current issues :) |

I'm with the do-not-use group, but I just came back from the post office where I mailed a $9.45 priority mail envelope --- so right now a stack of those $1 stamps sounds pretty handy Seriously, you might not "end up in an orange jumpsuit" but then again, how would you feel about losing your state job? I just don't think it's worth the risk. Kirk |

I am in the group that I am to chicken to reuse. I would not want to take a chance that my mail would not get to where it needed to go due to postage issues. |

I have three or four years worth saved that I have not sorted yet lol. I just started working on them again. I will start pulling out sets for my album soon and I will get with ya to see what you need to fill your gaps. I only have to keep one copy of each type. I am trying to find a list of the different 44c flag stamps. |

I already know my choice hehe. I wont use them. I never was going to. I was just interested in what others do with these things pretty much. At least they do not have a sharpie cancel. I think that's worse then not canceling them at all. Hope I did not offend anyone with bringing this subject up. |

Far from it, I found it interesting. It is always a personal call. I have taken possession of pirated software, appraised it, and never used it. I have paid for software that is absolute junk, and fraudulent. Sometimes , when I receive "marker monkey" cancellations, I am very tempted to use skips. I have seen Skips and pirated software offered by stamp clubs at auction.
