Great it is working for you Fernando. You don't need to resize on Flickr it will do it for you and you can choose which size to use. You have to pay to use the very largest 'original' size but that is not so bad for free.

In this image the size selector is set to medium - 3rd arrow down.

I think those birds are called Blue-footed Boobies

Just to show I didn't make that up - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue-footed_Booby

Good heavens, I can't let that go unchallenged.

From the wiki link:
The name booby comes from the Spanish term bobo, which means "stupid" or "fool"/"clown". This is because the Blue-footed Booby is clumsy on the land, and (like other seabirds), they can be very tame and therefore easily captured, killed, and eaten by humans.

Quite a large bird, 32 inches (~1 meter) long.

I scan at 1200dpi as any larger and the files are huge. Try to find out what your scanners optical resolution is as you shouldn't really go larger than this. 600dpi is about the minimum for stamps.
Here are some examples where you can see above about 1200dpi there isn't any real benefit and 600dpi looks good.
In order they are 300, 600, 1200, 2400, 4800 and 9600 dpi

There is a very noticeable difference between the 300 and the 600. The 600 is much to be preferred.

Hello

OK, a 1200 dpi, with a zoom, work the same than 9600 dpi?

no, the difference is in the resolution. if you focus on a 3mm x 3mm section, the resolution will be much higher at 9600.
However above 600 dpi, there is really nothing else to be gained.
Images that I post for hi-res shots are really only 300dpi. occasionally I will post a 600dpi image.. I only scan at 1200dpi for study on my computer, if need a higher magnification then I use my free-standing microscope or my electronic digital microscope, the difference being the standalone I can go to from 100x to 900x, the digital from 30x to 120x and it displays on my monitor.

Hello

Thank you.

OK, back to scanner. Need try again this on 300-600, and zoom.

I like this new way, and I like use it on mine trades. So who want scans of Machins on 1200 dpi?

Fernando,
Think of like this - If you scan a 1" square at 300dpi the resulting image will be 300x300 pixels and at 1200dpi 1200x1200pixels.

Nice close-up scan BTW.
