That was interesting info there Bob. Something else that is interesting is how just 4 letters and 4 digits can make something so big....."XMAS 1898".

Here are a couple of nice German 2008 Christmas stamps.

Note to Santa: I don't have these yet, so if you will drop off a nice used set when you bring my 722 Edition of the 2009 Mercedes SLR McLaren running at 617 horsepower, I would really appreciate it!

That '99 ANGEL would make a lovely Christmas Card!
Hey, Laswabbie, is that a UFO beyond the arch of the 2nd 2008 stamp?
Thanks for posting!

Good morning everyone
This is My Favourite Christmas stamp.
Issued on Christmas day 1898.

I believe This is also the first Christmas stamps issued in the world.
I could be corrected on this.

Very nice ones guys. Steve really liked the Aussie crab as it got a chuckle out of me.
djd I believe you are correct in stating Canada had the first one but others argue that Austria came in first so here's the story and you can decide.
Canada issued a stamp with the Mercator map "Christmas 1898" inscribed. Post offices in England and the Netherlands also issued stamps with Christmas-related themes. In the US, postcard artist Ellen H. Clapsaddle designed Christmas themes for stamps. However, none were special Christmas issues. The first postage stamp for Christmas was issued in 1937 in Austria: the Rose and Signs of the Zodiac stamp.
