Hey Everyone, I've been boxing up a bunch of old books that my family has collected through the years and in one of the book's I found this tucked inside (being used for a bookmark?). It's heavier card stock paper printed front & back but in a bi-fold style. Here's the front Here's the back Here's the inside Thought it was kinda neat and wanted to share scans of it. Lucky

Thanks Rod. Notice how they're only offering to train the Women for Inspection jobs & they're offering to train the Men for Aircraft Drafting & Metal Fabrication or Gas & Arc Welding. I'd much rather spark an arc then carry a clipboard.
I wonder what would happen if I printed up a label with my address on it and placed it so it was covering up the Chicago Air College Name & Address and then put it in the outgoing mail at the Post Office?

I have a fair idea, I cook a mean rock cake, that is ideal to hide a hacksaw blade. |

Holy Smokes!! Thanks for your post wt1. I'm guessing either: 1) You lived in Chicago at the time of the incident 2) You took a training course at Chicago Air College 3) You lived near the Crash Site.
I guess what I'm saying is, if this fits into your collecting area etc. let me know if you'd like it and I will give it to you.

Wrong on all counts. I never lived in nor even visited Chicago or Wisconsin and I'm about 35 years too young to have taken a training course at Chicago Air College. I simply web searched "Chicago Air College" and came up with the reference to the disaster. Then I went to my library's web site and looked up the NY Times article about it. I'm a history buff for this sort of thing, but I have no connection to the area whatsoever.
Thanks for the offer about the card, but it's not really anything I would collect. I suggest you keep it or give it to someone that would have interest in WWII memorabilia.
BTW, does anyone find it interesting that this card was appealing to men up to age 49 but women only up to age 40? |

Especially since all the young Men were out fighting the war. You'd think they would've taken any able bodied person of any age. Heck, even Walmart gives jobs to people 65+ years as Customer Greeter's. Honestly though, the Greeter's kind of piss me off. Can't explain it but my husband usually acts as a barrier between myself and them. I guess most day's I'm just not in the mood to be around people who are payed to say Hello to me (no matter what age they are).

I have a friend holidaying in the US, he emailed me last week, saying if he hears another "your'e welcome", or "have a nice day" he is going to become barking mad. Friendliness should be genuine, not a company directive. I would share your irritation.
I am finding similar behaviour now at my "commonwealth bank" I walk in and am greeted by two three young girls fawning attention, when I leave they comment, "we hope you had 10 out of 10 for satisfaction in your dealing here"
Whaaaat!?
PS: lightbulb moment. I was listening to a researcher on BBC radio the other day, and the most desired thing people want across the sexes, and across all age groups, the single most desired part of engagement with other human beings, is to be taken seriously.
