basically says The Christmas Town Retz has everything for the children

The 1987 Christmas stamp shows Josef Mohr and Franz Gruber the

Here's a Cuban Christmas Stamp from 1957.

I find it interesting that the Scott Catalog shows the date of issue being December 20, 1957. It seems to me that's a relatively short period between the date of issue and the actual holiday that it would have seen limited postal use.

The reason for this is that the Spanish-speaking world celebrates Christmas from Christmas Eve (family meal) through New Year's Eve (ditto or out on the town) till Twelfth Night (when the Three Kings bring presents). Hence "Navidades" (literally "Christmases"). Most cards get posted between Christmas and Twelfth Night. (However, Spain now issues its Christmas stamps in November.)

Here are some Spanish cancellation marks from Christmas 2003, showing parts of the Cabalgata de Reyes (Procession of the Three Kings):

:) Happy Holidays to all... :)

Quite appropriate to the season, we had a new baby boy, Leo Joshua, yesterday evening. Grandson #2 has all the appropriate fingers and toes and baby parts and both he and momma are doing well.
