Hello,

I am trying to remember what stamp I was looking at recently. It is a US commemorative, I think. It is a revolutionary war type figure and the interesting part was that there was a document tucked in his belt that had writing on it in red letters that I could possibly read (30x?) if I turned the stamp upside down. When I got the time to investigate I couldn't remember what stamp it was. Any help appreciated. Thinking it was a vertical stamp but not positive. Wish I could provide more info. Driving me nuts. Anyone know which stamp I am looking for or run across it themselves? Any help greatly appreciated--Steven

I don't see anything from the Bicentennial era. Could it be a Scott #1826 from 1980?

Was it a picture posted on Stamp Community? Or an actual stamp you saw somewhere? Or a picture in a catalogue? Do you remember which country issued it?

I believe was a US commemorative I pulled out of a packet of used stamps.

Well, for crying out loud, find it and post a picture because I've gone blind looking at my U.S. Specialized catalog. And I don't see anything like what you're describing...

Yes, I gave up Kirk,
not enough info, I can search on value, colour,
and a host of things.
Best to leave intrepid to bump into it again whilst he is sorting.

I have done the same thing a few times,
it is very frustrating, sometimes it turns out
not even the country you thought it was.

OK, US commemorative.

What era, 1890's, 1920's, 1950's, 2000's ?

Remember the value? 3c, 15c, 43c ?

What colour was his hair? Main colour of the stamp? Clothes?

Any thing that stood out to you?

On a horse? Was it a statue? A living man? A painting?

Naked? Sunglasses?

Just trying to jog your memeory.

Where were you when you looked at it? Where you eating or drinking anything?
