This is a 1981 Space Achievements Numbered Block (Plate Block). Since the stamps
are a block of eight which was unusual for the time and the block number
is 111111-does that increase it's value any? (I asked a similar question of Tom and thought it would make a good question for us Newbies to learn by.)
Thanks!
Gussyboy1

Hi Gussy.........

According to Scott.......block of 8...$3.25.....plate block of 8...$3.75

Because many dealers and collectors in the 1930's & 40's thought that stamps would always rise in value many kept blocks and sheets during those years.....now, because there are still so many available most singles from the 40's & 50's are valued at 20cents....most plate blocks are valued at 40-45cents.....not even the value of 4 singles !!

I remember when adults were buying sheets of the 3 cents stamps and putting them away..to earn interest I guess...they were disappointed..and now you have to put what 14 of them on a letter to pay the first class rate !
