so far in my young collecting career this is my favorite cover.i have 2 of them.my Grandfather gave all his kids & grandkids one - so I have mine and the one he gave my dad.
my questions are : does anyone know how many were made. also,i'll have to get them both out and compare them but I believe "Bear" signed each one of them.does anybody know if he signed them all?
the cover came out when he got his 315th win.was postmarked Nov.28 1981 in Birmingham Alabama
anybody have any other information about this cover?
any help will be appreciated. thanks, T.J.

Didn't the series of the US postage stamps featuring Bryant et al, have secret printing, or something?

Well I know they come as "red line" series TJ that should show it in Scott catalogue, But I am sure I read something like the names appear in differnet parts of the design, "in the hatband" etc.
Unless ageing and memory is pointing the fickle finger :)

funny I'm reading one of the Linns stamp magazine that one of the users here sent me and it had an article about that stamp and Bear Bryant. not a lot of details, more of a story...
when you get your 50 posts send me your address and I'll mail you the magazine as a reward for sticking around and adding to the witty banter
in the article they said the Bear Bryant's stamp is Scott #3143 issued July 25th 1997
this would have never stuck out for me except for your post.

rod222, yall play rugby over there dont ya? that is a pretty rough sport from what little I have seen. people from Alabama do claim Sweet Home Alabama (i think it is the official state song) but in truth we cant claim Skynyrd the are from Florida but they did do some of their recording in Muscle Shoals Alabama. you have pretty good taste in music now can I talk you into listening to Johnny Cash,Waylon Jennings,or Hank Williams?
