New Collector From PA

Hello all.

I've been a lurker for awhile so I decided to sign up to introduce myself and try to contribute to these forums.
I just started collecting stamps (and german notgeld as well), I decided to start collecting after going through and regrettably selling some of my grandfathers stamps, As I was researching the stamps to sell I got more and more interested in them and decided to keep what I had left.

I was most attracted to the revenues and related BOB's with their intricate engraved designs and all the different ways in which they were used. There seems to be many offshoots of material to collect related to revenues as well (documents, checks, stamped paper, etc).
I've got a Scott National Album (Revenues part 1+2) on the way, and a Scott Specialized Catalogue as well, plus some literature on revenues to get me started.

This forum helped fuel my interest in collecting with all the knowledge you guy's are so eager to share and for that I thank you.

NeoRev . I'm not a specialist in revenue stamps; some on the forum know much more than me. Like you wrote members here are eager to help. It's always easier when you have a picture or a scan of the stamp. It's great that you decide to start collecting. With the help of SCF you'll never stop learning. After 50 post you will be allowed to sell, buy and trade with other members. Daniel

I don't know what exactly it is about those revenues that grabs you but once it does, you're hooked.

NeoRev, Welcome, its never too late to get into the search that never ends ! We all have different interests (thank goodness) but we all have the bug ! I won't say "gene" because I am the ONLY one ever in my blood family that had the slightest interest in stamps !

Yes there is definitely something about the revenues, I'm glad I decided to keep what I had left.

It'll be nice to be able to trade/sell when I get to 50 posts as I have some worldwide stuff I'm not interested in, plus I know I'd be dealing with honest people here.

I'm not sure of the average age of the typical stamp collector these days but I'm 28, would you guys say thats fairly young? I'm asking because I see alot of discussion on the future of stamp collecting and was wondering if I'm one of the few young bloods out there.

NeoRev, I can't speak for the others but I've got 30 years on you (although I often think I'm still 28 until my aching body brings me back to reality).

tomiseksj, don't feel too bad, aches are starting to creep up on me already. Years of riding bmx will do that to you, hopefully stamp collecting is a low impact activity
