Found this story interesting, which seems to be happening in the Northeastern Ohio area. I find it interesting that the USPS concurs that the envelopes in question meet postal regulations, yet they are being destroyed by their mail sorting machines because they are "overly thin".

With everyone, including the USPS and the Christmas Card envelope maker trying to cut costs, it's an interesting dilemma ... does the USPS or the Christimas Card envelope maker take on the burden of recalibrating their equipment?

Just think about the consumer, who loses out in their purchasing the cards that don't get delivered and also loses out on the value of all of their 44 cent postage stamps in the process.

I have often wondered the extent of the varied stresses an envelope goes through when being processed.
