I've been through my catalog as well as some online lists/pictures of stamps from Poland and I just can't find this one. There is no date on the stamp so it makes it even harder. Can someone help please? Thanks!

Wow, that's fantastic. Thanks so much. I can now put Poland away for a while. I have other stacks of unsorted countries to go through.

It shows the Liberation Monument in Warsaw - it shows Nike (not the shoes!).

The monument is shown on several Polish stamps (the Communist Party liked to make sure that people remembered who had liberated them from the Nazis).

I have a Polish friend who said that the 'liberators' were worse than the Nazis. I couldn't believe it when she told me that.

Somewhere in the back of my mind is an article I read about the worst murderer in history. He was a man sent by the Russians (I think) to 'remove' anticommunist threats in Poland. He set a target of killing 300 Polish soldiers a night, but reduced this to 250 after a while as the murders took longer to take the soldiers from their cell, kill them and clean the area than he allowed for. In this way he killed thousands of soldiers.
