As requested by "jimjamtwo", I will post some picture of random albums with some pages of German stamps. I'll put up some US pictures as well :)

In a new topic though!

For a catalogue for your Swedish (+ other Scandinavian) stamps, I'd recommend a Stanley Gibbons Specialised Catalogue for Scandinavia.

You can get the 2001 edition relatively cheaper - but given the size of the collection you're tackling, I think it's worth buying the latest 2008 edition, as it is in full colour.

Of course, as with any catalogue, the catalogue values are far higher than what the stamps will actually sell for, but it gives a decent idea. The design indexes make it quick to find stamps as well.

As Scandinavian stamps are very popular in many countris, having the SG numbers shouild help.

From the SG website http://www.stanleygibbons.com/onlin...es&cc1=17247:

"PART 11 SCANDINAVIA 6TH EDITION--StockCode--R2840-08
New 6th edition of the SG Scandinavian catalogue is sure to be widely welcomed by the many collectors of this popular area. Countries covered are Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden as well as the Aland Islands, Danish West Indies, the Faroes and Greenland, with all stamps being listed from the earliest issues right up to spring 2008, together with stamp booklets. The 6th edition will be the first published in colour, making stamp identification of more modern issues much easier. Also helping in this respect are new design indexes for Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway. A listing of Danish numeral cancels has been added similar to the existing list for Norway and details of machine labels have been expanded and updated. Prices have been very carefully reviewed and thousands of changes made, mainly in an upward direction! The stamps of Scandinavian countries have always been popular with collectors. Attractive designs, high production quality and restrained issuing policies by post offices in the area will ensure that this remains the case. The Stanley Gibbons Scandinavia Catalogues is the perfect guide to them.
Price: £34.95 In Stock"

Another possibility is the Michel catalogue, widely used in Germany (where there are lots of collectors!) - but I have never used it so can't comment.

Thanks for that tip. A Scandinavian catalog would be great actually.. We have most stamps from Sweden - Norway - Denmark, and then French and German after that I think. I'll have to buy a Michel for the German ones I've understood.

I'll go check ebay for cheaper copies :)

Thanks.

For Scandinavian stamps, I'd recommend the Facit Scandinavia catalogue: http://www.facit.se/special_eng.html

A terrific catalogue for all Nordic countries. I have the 2010 one and it has been a tremendous help for me to track down stamps from all these countries I collect.

I, too, would be interested in seeing your Nordic gems!

Okay. Yeah I will probably be on the lookout for a new version of Facit.

Nordic Gems.. Since I haven't started sorting my stamps out I have no idea which are gems and not I'm afraid :)

I can absolutely second the recommendation for Facit...it is one of the nicer specialty catalogues that I have run across.

All stamps are gems :)
I just have a big interest in Scandinavian stamps. I'm currently building up my Danish, Faroe Islands, Greenland and Icelandic older collections.
You'll find many engraved stamps in these countries. A tremendous art.
And Facit should be a good compliment for your to understand the stamps and vocabulary in Swedish and English.
