Hi, I've been lurking here long enough for me to get the feel and join in. My parents got me into collecting stamps when I was about twelve. Since I then I've moved away from stamps but I still kept it in the back of my mind. And through time I have made some small purchases myself as well. Just wanted to show a bit of my collection and if anyone has any suggestions as to how to maintain these stamps in pristine condition feel free to chime in. Sorry If this is the wrong place to post this.

, to the community.

I also recently got back into collecting stamps after many years. This is an excellent place to lean about the hobby.

This is the correct thread for your post.

Your blocks look great. I collect U.S. singles, but I've resisted the temptation to collect blocks.

The way you have them now, in stock sheets, it perfectly acceptable and will protect them. The key factor, in my opinion, it to make sure the strips/pockets are tall enough that the stamp is completely protected behind the clear film. In other words, the tops of your blocks don't protrude above the clear strip where they might get bent, torn, or damaged.

If you need more stock sheets, this manufacturer is excellent www.lighthouse.us. Use the Lighthouse site for reference, but you will want to do comparison shopping at other stores. A lot of SCF members use Vario pages to house their collections and can give you input on the best prices.

Of course, there are albums designed for plate blocks. And you would have to consider hinging vs. mounting your blocks. We've had that discussion here several times -- use the Search button at the top of page to find them.

On problem with mounting blocks, a lot of the pre-cut, pre-sized mounts aren't quite the right fit because of selvage.

Hope this info helps. We look forward to seeing and learning more about your collection.

KirkS

I can confirm how good Lighthouse stock leaves are - I've been suing them for over 20 years with almost no problems. There are two main types - Lighthouse Vario and Lighthouse Vario Plus - both can be single or double sided, and back or clear. Vario plus are thicker and more expensive. I use black double sided Vario as (a) stamps look great against black (b) Vario are cheaper (c) more fit in a file. There was a thread earlier this month about prices in the USA (which is where I guess you are?).

They both come with different numbers of rows per page - I have a range of sizes, from one per sheet (for big covers) through to 8 (for small stamps). I guess for your blocks you'll need some 2, 3 and maybe 4.

Good luck - and keep posting!

Thanks. I use their stock books and they are really nice. Had them for over 10 years and had no warping or anything as of yet.

to the SCF. I hope you stay around and join in on the insanity.

Like the others, I use Vario sheets and Lighthouse stock books. You might check out the following online sources. I use the three almost exclusively.
