Can anyone provide me with precancel type info. for this?

The TnT album pages narrows it down to four options: 243, 841, L-1E, L-2HS, L-3HS.

Thanks for the help.

You can mark that one as type L-1.

Type 243, by the way, is what is known as a Double Line Electro (DLE). These are a popular subset of precancelled stamps - they have their own PSS catalogue that lists and prices all known examples of this type of precancel, as opposed to the Town & Type catalogue that just gives a price for the most common example of that type for each town. DLE precancel devices were produced for only 3 years, and although some of these devices were used to produce precancels as late as around 1980, most of them had a limited lifespan. That means a relatively limited number of different stamps to collect - in the case of DLEs, just short of 12,000 different.

Keijo includes a scan of a DLE in one of his blog articles.

WT-1, FYI 841 could be eliminated since they did not start being used until 1958.

Thanks for all of the info. and the link to the article on precancels was helpful also.

I wasn't attempting to identify the precancel originally shown as any one type, I was simply outlining the various precancels known for that city. The info. I have been able to get off the internet does not show examples of L1-E, L2-HS, etc., so I start having trouble when attempting to identify those varieties.

Getting back to Danbury, CT, based on what was stated previously, I would assume this is considered a Type 243 DLE for that location:

I'm getting it (but slowly...)

Correct, and it does a good job of showing why the DLEs are popular. Nice clear text, easy to read, clean impressions.
