this looks to me to be a Confederation army cover from 1864 New Orleans?

its canceled NEW ORLEANS Jun 29 1864, and dated 1864 on back
inscription along back side is "from John M.B. Co E 21st ???? N.O LA Dept of Gulf" Im not sure what the back flap says.

front seems to be the name Mathias Buchlof? Esq. address Dubuque Iowa

I have the stamp narrowed down to 64,65,65b
I dont know how to check grills on cover and I dont know what 66,74 trial proofs are however #65 is only $3.50 versus $$$ for all others so logic would lead me to believe I have the #65

Very nice cover. Too bad not a CSA stamp, but New Orleans was occupied by the Union at that time.

The only way to truly find out which stamp it is would be to lift it, Pity about the side of the envelope but nonetheless I'd leave it as is.

Edwin, color is a rose shade and not pink. The 1864 date is very late for 65b laid paper. All examples that I have seen with readable date cancels are for 1862 with most being May-July.

thanks guys for the help, this one will stay on cover as anything I have pre 1930 does. I think it would be very collectible to a civil war buff?
for now I have a limited amount of covers so ill try to keep it safe with them.
