Anyone know what this is numbered? I don't But I certainly didn't anticipate finding the "rip-off" ends on something patented in 1879. I have two colors of paper.

Barb, It is U293 issued Aug 18, 1886 withdrawn june 30, 1894. There are 3 varieties, 83 perfs at top, 33 perfs at top and 41 perfs at top. The 41 perf varieties are inscreibed with "Series 1" through "Series 7" Edit Typo |

Nice page, first one looks lake color and No. 7 is a nice double (triple?) impression. Also nice St. Louis and Doe Run RPO cancel. Unusual obverse, is ther any ink on other side? Very nice collection. Edit: The U293 is only listed as cream paper however the paper can vary from light to medium cream. |

To answer the earlier question, yes, there is die on both sides of what I'd call row 2 right. |

Nice albinos including on misplaced. The 2 cent cut square looks like a die 3, hard to tell because of resolution. I have never seen the 1 cent missing "U" before. Thanks for the scans. |

Looks like either style U61 (Nov 1883) or style U62 (June 1884). Hard to tell from the scan. I don't know if you have the watermark images. |

I have never seen a perforated letter sheet before, that's pretty neat.
I also like the Highway Post Office cancel from Saint Louis. I wonder what highway was used, at that time most were named for nationwide highways like "The Lincoln Highway" or the "wire road" as the government had not passed a law requiring all highways to be numbered on 11/11/1926.
The MOOLAH Temple makes me think of the word "money".
A very interesting and unique collection. |

The U293 letter sheet was patented by Lebbeush B. Rogers Patent No. 217155. Mr. Rogers held numerous patents for envelope production equipment and envelope design. |

So is this our famous TV friend ... Mr Rogers? The perfs you refer to earlier across the end for the U203... or across the area before the seal. I need to count. Oh Yes, and the other is CERTAINLY watermarked. I've been looking at some of those, but never know in which order to evaluate the piece. First the embossing, the die, the knife cut, the paper color then watermarks? What do I do with my triple imprint? Two on one side one on the other. How does one value these? Cannot afford certs for everything even if I wanted... so how does one obtain an overall value for multiple binders? Sorry. More to come. I need to go back to work scanning. Thanks for the laugh. |

Barb, the perfs are across the top flap. Yours will have 41 since it appears to be imprinted Series B. Scott does not list values for most errors. As for certs, most items don't need them. the multiple impressions, albinos and obverse die are readily evident and very difficult to fake. I will try to find a more complete listing or errors over the next few days. |
