Anyone have experience bidding on auctions by Rasdale or Regency? I've been successful at getting deals with Siegel and wanted to hear others' experiences with the other, aforementioned auction houses.

Are Rasdale and Regency the feeders for ebay sellers as NYStamps and roecy? If so, do they try to simply outbid smaller bidders?

I use stampauctionnetwork.com to bid online; very nice interface.

I am not familiar with those specific names but I do a reasonable amount of business (for me) with Roecy because I have been quite satisfied with his service. However, I'll admit to being one of those who enters one bid, the maximum I want to pay, and then forgetting about it. With him as well as most of the other auction houses, my level of success is pretty miniscule. Showing my ignorance but what do you mean by feeders.

I have seen a couple of the brick and mortar auction houses try ebay..i don't think they stayed around very long...the name auction houses and ebay are two very different worlds....the reputable auction houses do VERY WELL on their own !!

I'm trying to find out if ebay sellers as NYStamps and roecy make use of buyer's agents at Rasdale or Regency auctions to buy everything in sight so that they can resell it on ebay.

scott_05: I know NYStamps is definitely using Rasdales to buy up items and they are probably using Regency as well at least when they have auctions in the mid-west. I have a friend who normally bids at Rasdales and Regency and has identified the NyStamps bidder agent. The agent doesn't seem to even look at the lots before bidding, but goes after popular lots that seems to have a lot of bidding activity.
I've purchased with Regency before. If you pay in person or use credit they ship pretty fast, but if you have to wait for an invoice, you'll be lower on the totem pole to get service. There's a lot of competetion for some items at Regency and I've seen lots go over 10x estimated value. They regularly have some really nice lots. Their next auction is in California which I've had some better luck at than the mid-west/east coast auctions.

NYStamps.. is run by some Chinese guys. They are not stamp experts but are in it for the money only. So they would buy popular lots, for the purpose of selling them on ebay.

Hi

I have bought a couple of items from Regency and had no problems. What impressed me was that I had a question on a lot and I called them. They went to the vault, got the lot and described it to me over the phone and answered my question (I bought the lot). I have heard other people complain about them but do not know the details. I, personally, would buy from them again. Note that they are the auction house for a few APS sponsered shows which should say something.

I have been warned about Roecy. I was told some of their lots listed on ebay were not in stock. That statement has not been verified and was made a few years ago.
