I believe you are counting the perforations. Grill are embossed into the stamp and best viewed from the back.

well, as I said in my little intro in the main forum, I'm a newbie at this so... yes I counted the perfs didnt realize I was to count the grill marks. learning. I was so excited at the prospect but I don't see a grill here now, as I do have at least one grill stamp to compare it with. Dang. Now I'm bummed. Well, I will post more pics of others...

Bear in mind that only 2 copies of the 85A 1 cent Z grill are known. Chances of finding one is slim. Hopefully you will find that the pleasure of collecting goes well beyond the monetary value of the stamps.
