The stamp was issued with CofA wmk sideways, with the crown facing the left as viewed from the front of the stamp (so facing to the right when viewed from the rear.)
What SG is referring to is actually an inverted watermark (sideways, as the watermark is sideways ) - the crown faces the right (as viewed from the front.) That means if viewed from the rear, the top of the crown would point to the left. Your stamp the tops of the crowns are pointing to the right, which is normal. When they say to the left, they're not referring to the crown being on the left side of the CofA, but the crown pointing to the left, if that makes sense.
I am still totally confused. Does anyone have a photo of the supposed error watermark. As the crown to me is still left of the COA, I am no authority on stamps, but if someone knows of a picture of the error could they post it and this will solve the mystery. Thanks to all anyway. Horamakhet
It's not that the crown is to the left of the CofA, it's that the crown is "pointing" to the left - ie, the top of the crown is to the left. That's the error. If the top of the crown is on the right (looking from the rear,) that's the normal way. All that's happened is they put the sheet of watermarked paper in the wrong way round. This is the same thing that happens with other varieties that have inverted watermarks. It's only confused by the fact that the watermark was sideways with this issue, so when it's inverted it's inverted sideways.
