Hi to all
If you look at Prince Phillip's Head and the Queens head you can see definite shadow. Is this a re-entry or was it issued like this?

Regards,
Horamakhet

That is a ACS S170c Registration shift

Occurs on the fifth column right pane
affecting the prince's nostril

Four cylinders one for each colour were used in each printing

Yes it does Horam, but minimum. 5c against 35c
at cat print date.
You must observe though, that the ACSC always quotes
the optimum standard of any given variety
with a corresponding price.

Yours would fail, because the optimum collecting
standard would be either mint, or used <as a pair>
(alongside of the 30c issue)

Yours naturally will be of interest and have some value
but remains not optimum.
(The same as a pair with a crease down the perfs
this is never optimum)
Philately is very precise about these "split hair" things

I learnt something here, I had a misinterprtation of
the word "encroach" (to trespass) I had held a subtle difference
to which the catalogue descriptor used :)

here is an example of the ACSC catalogue

BTW: I have quite a number of these
battered and old ACSC catalogues:
If you are interested in one, email me an appropriate address
and I can mail you one free.

Interesting, what year is that ACSC Rod? Mine is very different (2005). Catalogue number for this stamp is ACSC 519. No mention of a registration shift at all. 519d is "Top of tiara extends beyond top frame." and is priced at $3.00 used ($4 MNH). That's the only recorded variety. It occurred in the right pane all of column 5.

I am locked in a time warp.
I saw some kids arguing over who was who
in a picture of the Beatles the other day.
I knew time had not marched, but bolted on..........

$4.95! Haha. That's not the whole thing in one volume is it?? You'd be up for around $500 to get all the volumes nowadays, Roos to Decimals (only up to 2001.) I only got up to Decimals I (1975) since I don't collect decimals. Still cost me close to $300 from memory. Catalogues have gone up more than the stamps.

But back to the stamp, the image of the registration shift (tiara above the frame) looks different in my catalogue - there's no shadow effect, just the tiara can be seen to continue beyond the frame. I don't have the stamp to compare. From images on Bidstart that "shadow" look might be the norm. Certainly round the queens head and the Princes shoulder.

Hah! Ergo I have the $4.95 model (Pockets Rod)

Even in the mint example I have, I still find
(as I understand the word) the Tiara "encroaching"
on the frame.

It would <not> take much to have it misaligned.

I came to Australia in 1969 and this was the first stamp item my parents bought me. I did have two of them, but have since traded one.
The stamps come complete with a copy of the Queens speech, which I have never read, as the pack is still sealed.

Sorry about the quality of the pics, it's a bit hard taking pics through plastic.

Ahh, what happened to your stamp image Rod, it's no longer the stamp in question...

The queen drove down my street! I still remember it, my mum took a photo but all you can really see is a black Rolls Royce
