Curious on 2 things:

TelAviv YAFO what is YAFO?

The stamp appears to have a simulated rip
on the side of the environment stamp.
Anyone have a full sheet and can explain this?

Ta!

According to Wikipedia, in 1950 Tel Aviv Israel was unified with the adjacent town of Jaffa, and the name was changed to Tel Aviv-Yafo.

Rod,

Just a a side remark: We Israelis never refer to Tel-Aviv - Yafo As one place and although both cities are united as far as the bureaucracy is concerned this name is only used on official documents. An Israeli would use (both in speach and in writing) either "Tel-Aviv" or "Yafo" to describe the place he/she talks about.
And so for example: "I am going to Tel-Aviv" and never: "I am going to Tel-Aviv - Yafo")

Thanks Seahorse,
I understand.

There is an oblique name for suburbs joined
under a common referral, or joint council.
One of those irritating names I always forget.

...Ah! got it..."Conurbation cancel"
I only have one example
GB Cambourne-Redruth
(and even that has been challenged by another collector)

Take a good look
probably the only example in the world
of a conurbation slogan with an inverted year date

The Environment-Coastal Conservation Definitive was issued in 2001 and remained the highest value Israel stamp until the 'Jerusalem of Gold' issue of 2008.
Issued in sheets of 10, 5 with tabs. The designers' name, Yael Manin, is written below the english 'Israel'.
I have a year pack from 2001 but the information within was scant. They made reference to Oil slicks and Rubbish and these could be seen in that 'rip'. Later I will try to find an information leaflet which I may or may not have. All new issues [for subscribers], are supplied with an excellent leaflet which gives details in English and Hebrew. I may have one.

Oh yes, the 'rip', does not protrude onto the adjacent stamp but it does go into the right margin of the sheet. I do not have a sheet but there is a small picture in my Carmel catalogue.
I am wondering if the 'rip' might not be a futuristic Israel coastline if we do not look after it......it is very similar in shape if you put it next to a map !

Cheers Lb,
oil slick makes sense, albeit not obvious at first.
