Not on my want list, but it did bring back a fond memory.

When I "got back into" stamp collecting, the timing coincided roughly with Ian Kimmerly's launch of live auctions when his shop was on Catherine Street in Ottawa. Some time into the series of auctions, a 12d black came up for auction and it garnered a lot of media action. I was a young collecting pup and I went to this auction as I had done for all of them. Long story short(er) I ended up sitting beside the owner of that stamp, who had put it up for auction. I didn't know him or the fact that he was the owner until the end of the day. Then I knew why he had been so excited about that particular lot during its sale, and also appreciated even more his bidding advice during the auction. He convinced me to go one bid higher for a particular Newfoundland stamp that whet my appetite for a collecting adventure that I have not yet repeated with the same level of investment!
