Can anyone please ID the original stamp; that is, without the overprint. Any information on either the overprinted or unoverprinted stamp would be appreciated.

The original stamp is from the Russian army Local Camp Post in Germany. The overprint reads "Lag. Pochta" and "Feldmoching". The picture is a statue of Peter the Great. I will look up more info when I get home.

1950

Used for postal service for Boy Scouts
as postal service was then being organized.

I cannot comment on the overprint.

Fascinating Rod. I had no idea that this experience of scouts setting up the mail system existed. I learnt a lot today. Thanks.

To get more information and possibly qualified answers try these links to site/forum dealing with Russian stamps (it is in English).

Hope this will help.
Actually to me the stamp does not seem Russian at all (I mean official Russian stamp)
