I bought a collection at a yard sale. I have suspicions that some were put in the wrong places in the Classic album. Also some loose stamps may have the wrong penciled numbers on the backs.
This stamp was loose but in a grouping with other 1 cent early Franklins. The stamp itself looks like maybe it was bleached as there are blotchy white areas. The color isn't quite as yellow as the picture shows. The reverse has a penciled number 882 on it.
I see no secret marks. The shading above US is light. How do you like the way the nose sticks through the cancel?

I think it once said 1882, it is a re-engraved Scott 206
