What a wonderful forum, and to think I have been collecting all these years alone, and to find there are actually friends out there! This stamp has been sitting in my "Can't Find It" book for some time. I believe it to be French and probably a Revenue stamp, but I don't know for sure. Perforations are not great but I don't have another one so it's a keeper. Maybe someone can help me catalog it.

Yes, a French revenue. I believe that is old enough to be found in Forbin (last published around 1915) and a few members have that resource, so you'll get a good answer.

Affiches was just one of many types, specifically dedicated to individual revenue purposes.

Thanks so much to everyone helping. This makes the hobby so much more fun. I have been looking for U.S. stuff to help people with (and found a few) but it is so great to find some real answers after years of hunting my oddball stamps. Thanks Cjd and rod222 for the help. I got it out of the lost and put it in the found.
